My CONVICTION repays my debt to society, but my PURPOSE will fulfill my duty to humanity. Forgiving of my guilt does not absolve me of my responsibility to it. This idea was born out of a place that had me physically bound, but not intellectually. My emotional intelligence was interrupted but not my spiritual. This journey was about my geographical adjustment, but also the inflection point at which I was allowed to make the changes needed in order for me to create a path for myself. What I have found since my release from prison, is that so many people who have never been incarcerated appear to still be incarcerated. Enveloped with the problems of self infliction and pain, it almost feels like stepping from one unnatural environment into one that is filled with unnatural emotions. People can be broken, as was I, and we can recover, as I am doing, but we must face those troubles head on and be clever in our pursuit of redeeming ourselves, with God and with ourselves. I have written this so that others who feel overwhelmed, forgotten, and undervalued may know that you always have a choice, it may feel impossible right now, but the path is set and you must persevere through. You hold the tools to create the reality that you want, where will yours begin?
